About our client

This is a great opportunity to join a successful investment platform focusing on hands-on fund investments in the smaller end of the European private equity market.

Our client, one of the leading small-cap fund investors in Europe and the clear market leader in anchoring and creating first-time funds, is looking to expand their fund of funds team. With a long-term commitment to private equity investing across different types of strategies including direct, co-investments and fund investments (primary and secondary), the firm has worked on transactions ranging from creating first-time funds from scratch to complex fund restructuring processes and time critical co-investments. As a preferred co-investor they are actively involved in buyside processes of companies all over Europe.

This position will particularly focus on reviewing and executing fund investment and direct co-investment opportunities, often working jointly with the underlying General Partner in a hybrid role and therefore offers the chance for very close exposure to commercial and operational tasks. This is a great opportunity to build a strong network while working with an exceptionally experienced team. The position would be based in Berlin with coverage across the whole European market.

What the job involves

  • Managing and building relationships with leading private equity managers to source fund investment (primary and secondary) as well as co-investment opportunities together with our experienced team
  • Executing due diligence processes on companies and funds all the way down to company fundamentals to determine alpha
  • Managing the portfolio by KPI tracking, AGM attendance and challenging managers on key advisory topics
  • Taking an active role in the team by bringing up new ideas, participating in investment discussions and improving processes from lessons learned to make the team better each day

Who we are looking for

  • Completed Master’s degree or MBA at a top-tier European business school or technical university
  • Relationship driven personality that likes to work in an international environment
  • Great commercial judgment
  • Dynamic entrepreneurial personality with strong communication skills
  • Excellent financial modelling skills and analytical mindset
  • A genuine interest in and knowledge of private equity
  • International profile demonstrated through studies or work outside of native country
  • Early professional working experience in investment banking, strategy consulting or private equity
  • Excellent English is required and fluency in a further European language is highly welcome. German language skills are not required for this position but will be helpful
