Portfolio Monitoring and Reporting Analyst, Munich, Germany

Our client is an independent buyout firm with significant financial resources and a strong track record. The German arm of the firm invests into mid-sized companies across various sectors in the DACH region and has a strong deal pipeline. The firm is now looking to add a portfolio monitoring and reporting Analyst to their team. In this position, you will work closely with the Munich based deal team as well as the London based portfolio monitoring team. The position is based in Munich, however, quarterly visits to their London office are expected.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Supporting the deal team with the on-boarding of new portfolio companies and managing the data collection process in close collaboration with the portfolio companies
  • Track any changes in the portfolio and derive the consequence on the valuation of the portfolio
  • Monitor the performance of the assets (incl. tracking against plan) in close cooperation with the deal team
  • Preparation of materials needed for the investment committee and quarterly reporting (e.g. quarterly portfolio and valuation overviews)
  • Establish and implement new processes and standardized reports  in portfolio monitoring within the existing IT environment (current system used: iLevel)
  • Liase with Fund Accounting Team to ensure consistency of data between the accounting system and iLevel
  • Responsible for regular and ad-hoc reports on investments, portfolio and market research
  • Support the deal team with data requests on portfolio companies for reporting to internal and external stakeholders
  • Build reports and metrics to monitor and analyse the portfolios; compile and maintain data of company information for potential fundraising
  • Supporting the regulatory reporting function and liaise with advisors and administrators

YOUR PROFILE:

  • University degree in Business Administration, Finance or related disciplines; ideally with exposure to analytical subjects
  • Significant professional experience gained in a leading accounting firm in audit, valuation or tax; a professional accounting qualification is a plus
  • Past experience in private equity and / or portfolio monitoring is a plus, but not a requirement
  • Knowledge of PE valuation methodologies is helpful
  • Excellent MS Office skills, in particular Excel; an affinity to IT and IT tools is required
  • Strong analytical skills as well as strong communication skills
  • A pro-active, collaborative self-starter with an eye for detail
  • Willing to travel to the London office on a regular basis
  • Fluency in German and English is required
