About our client

Our client, a global PE real estate fund with over US$180bn of AUM, seeks a highly skilled and experienced Fund Accounting Manager to join its team. As a key member of the fund operations team, you will be responsible for managing the financial operations of global real estate funds, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and maintaining accurate financial records. You will play a critical role in driving the success of the fund, and your expertise will be instrumental in achieving the business objectives. This position is based in Mexico City, Mexico.
What the job involves

  • Oversee accurate and timely accounting and reporting for assigned real estate portfolios, serving as the main liaison between fund operations and business teams
  • Ensure timely and accurate preparation of all financial deliverables, including statements, performance returns, investor reporting, portfolio analytics, client requests, and industry submissions
  • Supervise third-party fund administrators, implementing effective control measures and ensuring proper governance
  • Manage and monitor a comprehensive calendar of deliverables, anticipating upstream and downstream impacts
  • Balance relationships and expectations between business teams and fund administrators.
  • Provide clear instructions and direction to ensure operational accuracy and efficiency
  • Support Portfolio Management and Asset Managers in ongoing operational activities
  • Collaborate with the transactions team on acquisitions and dispositions of investments
  • Work with the policy group to implement new accounting standards and address complex transactions
  • Coordinate with the tax department to maintain compliance with local regulatory requirements and track and analyze Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) to measure performance and identify improvements
  • Lead and manage Associate Manager-level accounting professionals, fostering growth and performance
  • Supervise internal and external audits, ensuring accuracy and compliance
  • Collaborate with real estate systems teams on initiatives impacting property and portfolio data to contribute to firm-wide projects, process improvements, and strategic initiatives within fund operations

Who we are looking for

  • Degree in Accounting or Finance, Master's degree preferred, with several  years of experience in fund accounting, preferably in a global real estate fund
  • Proficient knowledge of financial regulations and standards (e.g. IFRS, GAAP)
  • Proficient in financial software and systems (e.g. Excel, SAP, Bloomberg)
  • Experience with fund administration and custody services
  • Knowledge of tax laws and regulations in Mexico and other jurisdictions
  • Hands-on experience with asset management and incentive fee calculations
  • Solid understanding of joint venture waterfalls and income allocations
  • Fluency in English and Spanish, both written and verbal, is a must
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with outstanding communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to work independently with minimal supervision
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and meet deadlines, with proactive mindset focused on process improvement and creating added value
  • Organized and detail-oriented with strong efficiency and excellent time management
  • MRI knowledge and familiarity with performance return calculations; GIPS is a plus
