About our client

Our client, a rapidly expanding investment holding of significant size in the software sector, backed by a high-calibre private equity fund with a strong growth trajectory are currently looking for an M&A Director to lead the origination and execution of M&A deals with an investor mindset. They are looking to acquire several companies per year across Europe (historical average of 5 per annum) to achieve their inorganic growth goals and thus are looking for someone with experience working with this highly technical sector and extensive deal experience in a private equity fund or the M&A team of a PE-backed portfolio company. A natural networker, who can engage Founders, source deals bilaterally and build a network in the industry, based on trust.

This position is a great opportunity for a driven investment professional, looking to get involved in shaping the trajectory of a highly acquisitive software investment company.

What the job involves

• Building and developing a strong pipeline for further acquisitions, sourcing and converting own deal leads
• Managing and supervising M&A transactions from start to finish with a small team
• Working with founders, guiding them through the process and building a strong network in the industry
• Ownership of investment process with a very hands-on approach
• Driving the growth and professionalization of the business
• Building and managing the broader M&A team
• Presenting investment opportunities to the Investment Committee

Who we are looking for

• Several years of professional experience in sourcing and executing deals in DACH ideally in a private equity fund in the software sector or alternatively in an acquisitive PE-backed software company 
• Strong track record of building a pipeline and executing on M&A transactions ideally combined with a deep understanding of the software sector
• Hands-on approach, with high interpersonal skills, emotional intelligence, self-starting mentality, drive to take ownership and an investor mindset
• We are looking for an outgoing natural networker with a results-driven and goal-oriented personality backed by an analytical thinking and data-driven approach
• Outstanding strategic, analytical and commercial skillset with great communication and presentation skills
• Fluency in German and English
