About our client

Our client is a dynamic and rapidly expanding business services company offering infrastructure consulting services with a focus on infrastructure projects in the railway, energy and telecommunications sectors. Backed by an international and entrepreneurial private equity firm, the company is pursuing an ambitious growth strategy, both organically and through buy-and-build and international expansion.

To support this journey, they are seeking a Head of Group Accounting and Controlling to establish and optimise robust financial systems and processes that will underpin the company’s growth and long-term success. Reporting directly to the CFO, this position offers the opportunity to play a pivotal role in shaping the financial direction of the business. The role is based in Bamberg, Germany, with the option for partial remote work.

What the job involves

  • Design and implementation of the group-wide reporting process, as directed by the CFO, aligned with corporate bylaws, investor requirements, and the integration project framework
  • Harmonisation of reporting processes across all group entities
  • Integration of subsidiaries into consolidated group reporting
  • Independent review and validation of reporting and financial data from group and holding companies
  • Contribution to corporate planning at both group and holding company level
  • Identification of performance deviations from the budget and business plan and support in developing corrective measures
  • Preparation of financial reports for management and the CFO, and leading the preparation of financial reports and presentations for shareholders and the advisory board
  • Support in the implementation of an ERP system across group entities
  • Acting as the primary contact person of tax advisors and auditors
  • Close collaboration with stakeholders, including subsidiaries, investors, debt funds, and banks
  • Accounts receivable, accounts payable, and general accounting
  • Support for subsidiaries and responsibility within holding companies for:
  • Accounts receivable, accounts payable, and general accounting
  • Preparation of monthly and quarterly financial statements in line with German GAAP (HGB)
  • Valuation of work in progress, creation of provisions, and monthly accruals

Who we are looking for

  • University degree in finance, business administration, or a comparable qualification
  • Several years of professional experience in finance & accounting (leadership roles preferred)
  • Strong knowledge of Lucanet, DATEV, and Excel, as well as experience in the implementation and use of relevant reporting tools
  • Experience in the design and implementation of group-level reporting processes is beneficial
  • Hands-on experience with ERP implementation and usage is appreciated
  • Strong background in corporate and group controlling as well as corporate planning
  • Experience working with tax advisors, auditors, equity investors, and debt providers
  • Excellent analytical skills combined with a structured and detail-oriented working style
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to engage effectively with diverse stakeholders
  • Ability to understand and clearly explain complex financial matters
  • High level of proactiveness, accountability, and a solution-oriented mindset
  • Collaborative team player with proven leadership skills
  • Fluency in both German and English
