As part of this ongoing development, our client is seeking a Fund Finance Director to take over and further develop an established fund finance function, ensuring continuity while supporting increasing complexity and regulatory requirements. The role offers close exposure to the investment team and portfolio companies and provides the opportunity to further professionalise the financial backbone of a growing private equity platform. The position is based in Munich, Germany and requires a strong on-site presence.
What the job involves

  • End-to-end responsibility for all fund-related finance topics, including fund accounting, financial control, liquidity planning, and administration
  • Ownership of cash management, liquidity oversight, and financial planning at fund and management company level
  • Oversight of capital calls, distributions, and fund cash flows
  • Preparation and coordination of monthly, quarterly, and annual fund reporting
  • Act as a key contact for investor-related financial inquiries, including ad-hoc requests
  • Close collaboration with external stakeholders such as auditors, tax advisors, fund administrators, and other service providers
  • Oversight of audits, compliance topics, and regulatory requirements, including preparation for increased regulatory complexity
  • Handling of “non-glamorous” but critical topics such as documentation, compliance processes, and investor-driven requests
  • Responsibility for accounting and financial statements at fund and management company level
  • Coordination of tax-related topics in cooperation with external advisors
  • Further development, standardisation, and administration of finance processes and systems (e.g. reporting tools, documentation standards)
  • Drive digitalisation and efficiency improvements within the finance function
  • Act as the central finance point of contact for portfolio companies on fund-related topics
  • Support onboarding of new portfolio companies from a fund and reporting perspective
  • Financial sparring partner to the Partners and internal team on fund economics and financial matters
  • Close collaboration with internal colleagues covering portfolio finance topics

Who we are looking for

  • University degree in Finance, Business Administration, or related disciplines
  • Several years of relevant experience in fund finance, fund accounting, or financial controlling within a PE, VC, or alternative investment environment
  • Solid hands-on exposure to fund structures, investor reporting, and fund operations
  • Background in Big4 audit or advisory (Financial Services / Asset Management) is a plus
  • Experience working with external fund administrators and auditors
  • Strong accounting and financial reporting expertise
  • Very good understanding of fund mechanics and regulatory requirements relevant to private equity funds
  • Structured, analytical, and detail-oriented working style
  • Hands-on, ownership-driven mindset – comfortable operating in a lean, growing organisation
  • Able to balance operational execution with conceptual process design
  • Strong communication skills and confidence interacting with senior stakeholders and investors
  • Advanced Excel skills; solid PowerPoint proficiency
  • Experience with fund finance systems or reporting tools is a plus
  • Strong on-site presence in Munich expected; the role is designed as an in-office position
  • Fluency in German and English is required
